The riva allows you to change the ext of the file. So for example load flv file or avi or etc.. and change the output file ext to .mp4 or whatever
I found an issue with mp4 conversion but you can follow these instructions and it will work.
download ffmpeg.exe and put it into the riva folder
Here is the ffmpeg.exe version compatible with Riva FLV Encoder 2.0 for encoding MPEG files into FLV.
Just use this version if you encounter problems with the MPEG format.
Rename the original ffmpeg.exe file, by default in the folder C:\Program Files\Riva\Riva FLV Encoder 2.0\ into ffmpeg.exe.org for example.
Download from the link below and put this file in the same folder.
from google you can select download for ipod or sony psp and the format will be mp4 - see attached use the dropdown menu on right hand side
VLC will play almost anything - so usually do not need to convert.

vixy.net worked 1 out of 4 times for me. Riva can be a pain to get working. Mediacoder has been working flawlessly for me even in Linux.
