I gotta admit it does sound appealing to convert.

Penis mutilation, female sex slavery, genocide, and racism in Judaism is more appealing?
The world would be more peaceful if we chopped the heads off of all the religious people.

Umm..... Yeah.... That's a real peaceful thing to say. I think this is the point at which I stop promoting your forum. Thanks.
EDIT: Oh, but make sure if any of those women were pregnant, that you wait to chop their heads off until the fetus inside them has finished growing.
And blu, stop spreading this MEMRI propaganda crap and meet some real Muslims in real life and see what the f*** would happen if they knew someone was beating their wife.

I didn't say that we should, and is the statement untrue?

No it's not true. I believe religion is a tool, not the cause.
Saying "the world would be more peaceful if" sort of advocates the action, doesn't it?

It isn't a peaceful action to begin with. It's the kind of statement that gets people to think.. particularly those in religion.
I'm told all the time that I'm taking verses out of context, but people don't demonstrate correct context in response (which should be easy). If people read these holy books that they steer people to for themselves they may see that they're advocating all kinds of sickness and contributing to the problems in the world.
Why is it forbidden to teach religion in schools? If children were taught the horrors of these religions from an objective instructor: we may not face the issues we do.
Many Christians have no problem polluting the earth because they think Jesus is coming back to fix everything. Mutilate boys penis's; Jesus didn't come to destroy the law. Kill Palestinians and take their virgin's as sex servants -God approves!
There's certainly atheists that are not peaceful also, but they aren't beating their children (which is called for in the Bible without reference to age) out of religious conviction, or mutilating their children's penis's, etc.
The world would be more peaceful yet if we chopped the heads off every human.
Now concerning context; is either practical?

Well. Maybe I misunderstood your original intent. It's possible, but what I mostly interpreted your statement to be was a call to kill all my many Muslim and Mormon friends and family members. I am an atheist.

Being religious is governed by internal feeling of
wanting to be in some "group".
It's a hidden sheep mentality.
Religions supress individual thinking
in order to control people.
Religions don't explain - they command.
How long did it take for church to acknowledge that Earth is round?

When I got your response; I wished I hadn't written it. I was a Christian just a couple years ago. Took me about 8x through the Bible before I started realizing some problems with it: http://www.opposingdigits.com/FalseApostle/ -so I understand the ignorance it can induce. That's why I appear to know it so well too. It was like a whole new world opened up to me when I realised what my ignorance was keeping me from seeing. Now though; it helps me to see more clearly with the background in it.
The best solution is to wake everyone we can up from their ignorance. Bold statements like that, I hope will cause people to think about their actions and promotion of a religion. I really don't want Christians, or Jews fealing unwelcome here, but they should be aware of their beliefs which may be offensive to the rest of us, and the outcome that those beliefs lead to. There are people out there that want them beheaded btw, and they should know this and why -It's not because of Satan! It was probably a mistake for me to post it. I do hope my intentions are now made clear. Thanks for sticking around, and letting me know how it appeared.

It's all good. I mean, I would like some of my Lebanese and Palestinian friends to hang out around here sometimes, and most of them are Muslim, some Christian. So, I wouldn't want them to get the wrong idea from something like that.

Religion causes misery, but as long as humans are alive, there will always be misery, no matter if they're religious or not.
Would be interesting to see how the world would be without religion, though.
Religion doesn't have to be a bad thing, but most religious people make religion a bad thing. It's sad.
