Evidence Eliminator
Quote:
An evidence eliminator is a computer software program which deletes hidden information from the hard disk which would, otherwise, have remained despite any "normal" efforts to delete it. Such programs usually write over "unused" blocks of hard drive space with random bits to completely destroy deleted information. Deleted information physically stays on the hard drive until its old space is claimed by another program.
I use System Mechanic 5.5b. Its pretty useful. But will check out this as well.
from what i have read, this program is junk, and maybe a virus of sorts. i wont comment because i havent used it but look at the wikipedia info on evidence eliminator. pretty much nothing but bad things to say about it...
I think a good way to tell whether a program is junk or not is to see if it gets badly criticised or ignored. Wikipedia is Zionist controlled... test it for yourself. Anything or anyone of any value is critisized, debunked or ignored.
What are you people doing, that you need to cover your tracks?
Ah, porn sites!
Well, the only way to erase your tracks, is to reformat. And even if you do this once,a good computer forensics person can recover most info.
Those programs only do one thing when the pop-up comes up, it Scares the MONEY right out of your pocket.
They also record who D/L them. Kinda admits your up to something and you need to be watched.
Thats my take on programs like this. But hey, what do I know?

-Not true at all. There are 7 layers of deletion or over-writing on the HDD's before something is erased forever and that doesn't include the recycle bin. Just imagine if that space were available on the disk for use! If you were referring to low-level reformatting; I'm not sure on that. Most people don't even know what low level formatting is.
I don't bother with evidence eliminators: No kiddie porn here!

There are two kinds of formatting. The high-level formats which are done by higher-level operating systems will simply blank out the file allocation table, and leave the data on the drive. You can also do a low-level format, which will erase the data block-by-block.
There's also something called "slack space" which is directory related. When you save a file to a directory, and then remove it, the entry in the FAT is typically just shortened without erasing. A good security program will clean your slack space.
I don't think you need to re-format (low level) your drive to completely erase stuff. Sure, it is a good way to be completely certain. But as long as you fill up the drive's free space with data (cleaning free space), clean your slack space, and wipe your virtual memory...you should be pretty fine.
There are programs out there that will scan your NTFS drives for files. A good way to test your secure-delete programs is to simply try to recover data that you erased.
