ok so i have to rant today. Today at school was scheduled for promotional activities at the university center. There was a blood drive clinic, food donation section, cell phone company spot and an Israel recruitment group.
So the first table I checked out from the Israeli group was from the Hasbara Fellowship. So, they had some cards layed out on the table saying the following:
-->Did you know? The overall living standard of Palestinians has improved drastically. In 1967 there were no universities in the Palestinian terrirotries. Today there are 11. Source Technion Society (Canada) At this, I laughed quietly to myself which made two other ladies briefly pause their conversation. Today was already pretty crappy so I didn't really want to start anything.
then there are several other cards explaining how Israel has helped many other countries in need all of which can be seen at their website: Hasbara Fellowship
there were other recruiters for a couple of schools in Israel who explained how there are great opportunities for international students to gain nice experiences at their schools. I was even curious for a moment and considered what it would be like to visit Israel and see whats really going on but I honestly I think I would probably get arrested or something for protesting against zionism.
so i didnt cause any debates or uproar even though I wanted to, i just walked away for today.
