Wierd request... but I really really want a copy of a video showing a live orchestra playing 1812 Overture.
There are many versions out there but I'm looking for something specific.
But a background story first. lol
Back in high school, I was in the full orchestra and every year for the graduation ceremony we would perform the 1812 Overture. This was quite a show. Imagine this...
A large full orchestra in front. A large choir in the back. All the freshmen brass intrument players and non-brass instrument players would be on the catwalk in the town's hall for concerts, etc. Up in the catwalk, those who did not play trumpets or trombones would be each given a single bell taken from many many sets of brass long bells and a rubber mallet. (I did this as a Freshman as well.)
In the auditorium, there were four exits, one in each corner. In these corners would be a man with a big gun and an empty oil barrel. They shot blanks into these barrels from what I understand.
So the choir would begin with the orchestra in the beginning and then the orchestra would take it on from there, but then the choir would jump in now and then.
At the finale, all the freshmen brass players and bell dingers would play as loud as they could while still staying in tune. For the cannon shots in the piece, the guys with the guns would do their thing.
Totally sexual intercourse awesome experience. Especially for me once I finally got to play on stage with my piccolo as a sophmore. After the piece was finished every baby in the audience would be wailing from the volume. lol Our school had an excellent music program and not to brag, but we were very good and won many awards.
So, I know other groups have done this type of performance as well and I'm desperately trying to locate a video showing something quite similar with everything.. the cannon sounds, choir, the bells and loud brass. All I've been able to locate are excerpts of concerts and many either have the chorus or are missing the cannons. I want the whole shebang.
